Drill a hole for the sound board. Do not
attempt to drill to full depth at this time.
The final depth will be determined by
how far the stopper inserts into the keg.
My method for mounting the stopper to the lathe. I
use an old pen mandrel that I have cut off. The
partial depth hole is placed over the mandrel and
the "free" end held with the tailstock of the lathe. I
cut my mandrel a bit short.
Work the stopper to you taste.
The stopper has been shaped and
polished here. But how to work the end
of the stopper? A very expensive tool
here, a piece of hardwood with a hole
drilled in it.
More working to taste.
Remember that the hole was not drilled
full depth. I have marked the side of
my jig to the correct hole depth. I mark
this depth on a piece of tape attached
to my drill bit.
Mount the hardwood and stopper in
you nova chuck and have at it. I also
set the size of the mouth at this step. I
use a 1.4 inch gouge to open it up.
I tried to figure out how to drill the final
hole for a long time. I came up will
kinds of fancy solutions but they never
worked out. Here is my final solution to
the problem. Hold on tight!
Using a jig to shape the soundboard.

The final call!
